I love my job because... get to work with a team of people in our Business Advisory Services department and a variety of clients. Each day can be a bit different depending on the needs of the clients. I get to work with small to mid size businesses in which we perform their monthly, quarterly or yearly accounting work to their corporate tax return to their individual tax return. It is great to get to see the whole picture of our clients. Also, I manage a number of our benefit plan audits that we service at Wipfli LLP.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to gain/meet/build... my network of professionals and meet individuals that I can help with their business. With working with a variety of clients and helping them through their financial statement reporting through their corporate and individual tax return, I enjoy getting to know and help my clients.
In my free time I... love to spend as much time as I can with my family which includes my husband Chad, 7 year old son Nicholas and 4 year old twin daughters Julia & Morgan. They definitely keep me busy.
The most "interesting job" I ever had was... cleaning the schools during summer break. Amazing how much gum kids can put under the desks and in their lockers!
I love it when... I get home at the end of the day and my children come running to the door to greet me. All the worries of the day go away with those smiles.

I love my job because I'm a very social person and my position allows me to work with many different people throughout the organization.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to build relationships with others who face the same struggles as I do (work/life balance, climbing the corporate ladder etc.), I feel that we can share the lessons we've learned and work together to be the best that we can be.
In my free time I love traveling, scrapbooking, and spending time with my 7 year old daughter. The most recent trip I took was to Bretton Woods, New Hampshire where I ghost hunted with the Syfy channel's Ghost Hunters cast. After 5 years of school, I just graduated from UW Oshkosh with a masters of business administration so I will have a lot more free time..
My very first job was working for my mom and grandma who ran the concessions at the Brown County Arena and catered the Green Bay Packer parties at the Hall of Fame. The strangest souvenir I have from that time is a toothpick used by Don Majkowski.
I love it when my boss gives me the opportunity to work on projects that expand my knowledge of the company and allow me to work with people that I haven't had the opportunity to work with in the past.

I love my job because every day is like a box of chocolates... Some days I'm helping develop new programs other days its process improvement. Most days though, I just eat the dang chocolates
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to meet women from other industries and learn best practices that may be adopted by healthcare.
In my free time I love to be outdoors hiking, running, boating, skiing or just playing with our puppy. I also tend to work out a lot... dang chocolates
My most interesting job I ever had was a Christmas tree salesperson. It's impossible to NOT be happy selling Christmas trees. I've had a lot of weird jobs, though: handyman, painter, guide on the Appalachian Trail, rock climbing guide, ropes course facilitator, captain, marina service tech... the list goes on. I love learning new things (and getting a little dirty now and then is good for the soul!)
Something I want others to know about me is I love a challenge. Tell me something can't be done and I'll prove you wrong.

Title: President/Owner
Company: Pediatric Dentistry Clinic of Green Bay S.C.
Years at the company: 1996
I love my job because I get to make a positive impact on the lives of children each and every day. As a business owner I have been able to create an environment that allows me to work on my terms and have both the career as a pediatric dentist and the time as a mom that I desire.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to build professional alliances, contacts and referral sources. Over the past 15 years as a business owner/manager I have found the needs, style, and issues females face in business can often be quite different than our male counterparts. This organization seems like a good fit for addressing some of those differences.
In my free time (What free time?) I spend as much quality time with my children as I can. We do whatever it is that they want to do, so sometimes I am crafty, or arranging fun outings, and others I am just snuggling watching movies. I love to cook and read, and those are probably the only hobbies I still have time for right now. In life before 4 kids I collected wine, gardened, played tennis and golf, and enjoyed upland gamebird hunting, and fishing.
My very first job was janitor at the practice I now own. I moved up to dental assistant, secretarial roles etc, and from there the rest is history. I think my team appreciates a boss who has done everything they are expected to do, and fully understands their positions.
I love it when my kids run to greet me at the end of a long workday like they haven't seen me in weeks, demanding hugs and kisses. Nothing like a snuggle from them to make all the cares in my world go away. This euphoric feeling of course only lasts until they start fighting over who gets to hug mommy, whose turn it is, "she's MY mommy!" etc.

Title: Director of Business Development- Marketing
Company: Perhaps you’ll be the connection to my next great role?
Years at the company: Newly returned to this area after 13 year transfer to Illinois.
I love my job because marketing has a such strong consultative aspect to it. Discovering new ways to create products or services that communicate and deliver meaningful value allows me to sleuth, solve and support others.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to gain professional alliances, enhance contacts to support my job search, share mentoring abilities, gain new experience and knowledge.
In my free time I fill my life with music, yoga, mindfulness meditation, bike, dance, downhill ski, train our Lab for service work, lend support to others, create Big Adventures for our 6 yr old grandchild (she calls me Hammy), and laugh a lot!
Something I want others to know about me is high integrity, servant leader bringing a unique skill set combining 1) deep business experience in Marketing (Product Mgmnt, Development, Business Intelligence, Campaigns, Communications, Training) with heavy interface across all functional areas in corporate environments; 2) Human Services experience in counseling, non- profit program management, adult education. I’d like to invite you to think creatively ~ a little out of the box ~ about how I can serve businesses with this marvelous background of experiences I’ve enjoyed.
My biggest professional accomplishment was and always will be the chance to develop high performance teams, whether direct reports or not. Opening myself to mentoring early on, and using my behavioral education skills, have contributed to a natural ease and success in bringing diverse people together to create great business outcomes.

Years at the company:5
I love my job because it is challenging. I never seemed to get bored. I have launched a new financial planning service at Thrivent so it has definitely been full of challenges getting a new product up and running and handling the change management piece of it. Two of my top 5 values are meaningful work and challenges. I get both of them with the work that I do. I enjoy all the interaction I have with our financial representatives. It is very rewarding to help/coach others. I also am very proud to work for Thrivent given all the work that we do for the community and the various volunteer opportunities that we can be involved in.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to build my network of professionals (women) in the Green Bay area. I recently relocated after 19 years of living in Minneapolis. The hardest thing to do was to start rebuilding that professional network! I think Women in Management will be a great opportunity to meet others, learn other professions and opportunities in the Green Bay area! Women in Management will also allow me to continue to build on my leadership presence at Thrivent.
My very first job was working in a canning factory when I was 16 - very interesting!! I guess I could say it probably was my most intersting job as well. We worked 12 hour days through the summer months. Let's just say it took me a very long time to ever eat peas and corn again!
In my free time I love to practice yoga, travel as much as I can and enjoy a nice glass of wine!
Something I want others to know about me is I'm not really sure what my true hair color is!! I like to keep changing it up. One never knows - one month I may be blonde and the next month I may be a red head. Since I do a lot of training for my job it is funny how I get approached all the time and people ask me "don't I know you from some where" or "your voice sounds very familiar" - I typically ask them when they think we may have met and then let them know it was me but I probably had blonde hair at the time. I usually get a good laugh.

I love my job because...
Every single day brings me a new and exciting challenge. My days are never dull, and I never stop learning.
Through networking with other women in management...
I would like to learn from those around me while listening to their personal experiences. The diversity in the network of people I strive to build my life around is the key to what makes me tick. No one person in life is exactly the same as the next, and I admire those differences.
My very first job was...
owning and operating "Oink's World Famous Coney Dogs" in the pits at my dad's racetrack when I was just a wee one. Each summer Sunday from the age of 7, rain or shine, I made approx. $300 in sales with my very own concession stand, and paid my best friend DeLynn a weekly salary of $5.00!! She worked hard for her money.
Something I want others to know about me is...
Elliot and I have three boys who are my absolute highest priority and my life's greatest achievement.
My youngest child does the funniest things...
each and every day, but this week's finale was him walking down the street with his best friend and sidekick Timi (Shih Tzu). With Max dressed in one of his crazy costumes, and both of them wearing bright red matching capes, he says "OK, Mama, we're off to save the day like all super heroes should!" Can't they stay this cute forever?
My biggest professional accomplishment...
Elliot and I, along with our son, Ben, won the 2002 Gov. Doyle Volunteers of the Year Award for our dedication to downtown revitalization, economic development and historic preservation. In 2003, we won the Entrepreneurs of the Year award through the Chamber for Green Bay Net's successes. Although every day brings new hurdles which I consider to be important accomplishments, these are two I hold close to my heart and remind myself of when having a bad day. Being recognized for hard work and determination by those I look up to and aspire to honor is indeed enough to make me smile inside!

I love my job because it is fun to get at the heart of small businesses. With every business I list, I get an inside look at what makes the business successful or not. There is also the challenge of trying to link buyers and sellers of commercial properties and hanging tough through all of the issues.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to build relationships and make business connections where I can promote other members and they can hopefully reciprocate.
In my free time I...walk, do yoga, volunteer at Green Bay Community Church, write a weekly newspaper column for SCORE, counsel small businesses, study Scriptures, make big meals for my big family, and have the best time ever with my two little grandsons.
My very first job was cleaning hotel rooms and I still make one heck of a bed.
Something I want others to know about me is that I am a Christian and trying to make it evident in my life.

Title: Senior Pastor
Company: St. John Lutheran
Years at the company: 2.5
I love my job because I get to be with people in the most important moments of their lives, whether it is the joy of a wedding day or the sorrow of losing a loved one. The best weeks are those where I spend most of my time with people helping them to see God at work in their lives in many and various ways.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to learn from the expertise of those who are more skilled in the administrative aspects of my position. In seminary we delve deep into biblical and theological study, but aren’t given a lot of guidance in the areas of staff and volunteer management, financials, etc., which are a big part of being a parish pastor. I am also looking forward to making new friends and possibly finding ways to connect the volunteer-power of St. John with opportunities in the community.
In my free time I…Free time, what’s that? In my spare moments I enjoy spending time with my family, reading just about anything, working out, and…guilty pleasure alert...watching Dancing With the Stars. Now that summer is upon us, family time will include walks and bike rides as well.
Aside from babysitting, my first “real” job was working at McDonald’s. To this day I have the utmost sympathy for the trainee fumbling around at the cash register. Be kind, it’s harder than it looks!
The other day I was out shopping with my mother and our 19-month old son Marcus. To let him blow off some steam, we took him to the new “Jump On It!” play area/overstimulation zone in the mall. For 25 minutes he walked around the toddler area with a huge grin plastered on his face. He didn’t really play with anything, just walked around and giggled. Now and again he’d stop, hold his head and just laugh as if to say, “I can’t believe a place like this even exists!!

I love my job because I'm one of those crazy people who like working with numbers. However, I also really enjoy working with people. My job on the audit team provides me with great opportunities to work with a diverse group of client personnel as well as numerous teams of internal Wipfli associates. Although I utilize my knowledge of accounting standards and issues almost every day, I get to apply it to a number of different issues, projects, and circumstances. That variety keeps each day interesting for me.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to build relationships with other women both personally and professionally. I enjoy hearing others' viewpoints and learning from their experiences. I would also love the opportunity to be able to develop additional client relationships should anyone be able to benefit from the services that Wipfli can perform.
In my free time I play on the swings, pull out puzzles, coloring books, possibly cook up a gourmet meal in my toy kitchen (with my 6 and 3 year-olds)! In my other free time I enjoy reading and spending time with my extended family at the family cabin.
My very first job was as a part-time teller at a credit union. I liked the financial aspect but realized that being such a direct link between people and their money could be very challenging. The long-lines at the drive-up windows on a Friday night were more stressful than I ever imagined!
My child did the funniest thing the other day when she realized that we forgot to leave out the pictures the kids made for the Easter Bunny on Easter Sunday morning. She asked me to get the Easter Bunny's e-mail address from my mom so that we could let him know he should stop over to pick up the pictures. Do all Grandma's have contact information for these VIP's?

Title: Consumer Products Specialist (Insurance Agent)
Company: Sentry Insurance Years at the company: 30 years
I love my job because I truly have the passion to meet with clients to help them review and refine their insurance program. I meet every client at their home to see things that someone from an 800# or internet can not see. I am able to meet the children. Everyone I meet has different personalities, occupations, hobbies, so it never gets old. Every day is different. I truly have compassion for people. I want them to have the coverage they need at the time of a loss. I feel good when I leave their home knowing I've made a difference in their insurance program by designing it for their needs.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to build professional and personal relationships. It is easier to refer a client to some one you can trust and know they will be taken care of. The group has a variety of women who offer different services and products. Having the knowledge of what they offer will help refer clients to them.
Several years ago I took a part time job of working at Packer Games serving the skyboxes. Amazing what goes on behind the scenes 12 hours before the game, during the game and 4 hours after a game. I no longer do this, but am glad for the experience.
For fun I drive my own Harley during the summer and love shooting archery in the Spring and Fall. Also a cabin in Crivitz where family and friends visit that I look forward to every weekend.

I love my job because I have one of the most professional and talented team of stylists in the industry. It has taken me a while to develop them, but this year three additional stylists have achieved "Allstar" status; a level which provides stylist with the best pay around. Our success is a result of our focuses on education, balance between work and family and GREAT customer service. I have to say that JCPenney provides me with security in a tough economy plus great benefits!
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to gain more insight on area businesses. I always enjoy meeting new people, hearing their success stories and the positive impact they have on our community. I believe building networks among women gives us the strength to achieve whatever we dream possible.
In my free time I love to camp, bike, kayak, and travel the world. Routine commitments include attending my teen’s cross-country events and chorus concerts. Our family stays active by working out at the YMCA and by running marathons. I am the runners photographer.
The most interesting job I ever had was when I was 21 years old and had the opportunity to start traveling the world. My job as an in- salon and on-stage educator for Zotos International took me to sights in Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and Europe. I was forced to develop my public speaking skills and I learned how to get around the world on my own. The reward of it all was learning so much, so fast, sharing it and knowing I had a progressive impact on my industry.

I love my job because I have an opportunity to help someone heal through empowering our providers to be the best they can be in their counseling role. Everyday is a new day to bring out the best in people.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to learn more from the other women in management roles in different businesses other than those working in Behavioral Health settings. I look forward to building on my leadership skills and being able to build a network of women who I can seek out when I get into projects that I can utilize their strengths and I would hope to become a resource for other women in management as well.
I just became a Grandma in August and it is really nice to spend time with my grandson. I also enjoy reading, making jewelry, doing research on internet, spending time with family and friends, and taking walks with my Boston Terrier.
The most interesting job I ever had was working as a crisis counselor just after I had completed my bachelor's degree. I learned a lot about who I was both personally and professionally just by being a part of the community helping individuals with a variety of personal issues causing distress in their life. I loved working in accounting at a smaller company because of the variety of projects and people I was able to work with. Now at the Urban Frog I will have new challenges which I am excited about, lots of contact with our customers, encouraging my employees, promoting health conscious food at the cafe and being an active part of the growing "On Broadway" community of small businesses.
Through networking with other women in management I hope to share knowledge and ideas about all of our businesses. Hopefully we can all learn from and encourage each other!
Something to know about me: I grew up in San Diego, CA. Moved to Green Bay after graduating from San Jose State University in California. I am married to a wonderful guy named Jim who works as an electrical engineer. We have a dog named Buddy and a cat named Knuka that we share our lives with. We have an organically certified farm that we operate together. We love planting a big garden every year.
My passion for all things organic started a few years ago when I went to an organic, holistic, and chemical-free treatment facility for breast cancer. I am a work in progress, but have gained so much health since then and hope to continue on the path to wellness.
I am really excited about being in this group and look forward to getting to know every one!

We’re shaking things up this month! Instead of a Member Spotlight, we thought you might be interested in this bit of Green Bay Women’s history:
Jan. 10, 1970 marked a milestone for Green Bay’s oldest women’s study club and feminine organization, The Monday Shakespeare Club. The club celebrated its 70th anniversary from its founding, which was based on the pre-existing Shakespeare club, the exclusive and haughty Shakespeare club which dates from 1877.
The Monday Shakespeare Club was a combination of study and social group, which always met on Mondays and threw two to three parties a year, including a Christmas holiday dance. Membership ranged from 15-20, which was categorized into types of members, regular, associate and honorary.

I love my job because it gives me a chance to do new things while still using what I learned in my first career as an R.N.. As a nurse I helped one patient at a time and in this role I impact the health care of many patients. No two days are the same. I love being in a culture that encourages (expects) me to stretch beyond my comfort zone; thankfully my boss and my team are here to help me do that.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to gain/meet/build...my creative side. I am very '"left-brained".
In my free time I try to do things that keep me balanced.
My very first job was a clerk in a department store where I learned some good lessons ....and some interesting trivia. Did you know you can fit a child’s sock size by wrapping the “foot” part of the sock around the child’s closed fist? If the foot part of the socks can be "closed" around the fist – the sock will fit!
My biggest professional accomplishment is having navigated the career change from bedside ICU nurse to neurosurgical nurse to health care administrator.

I love my jobs because working with sales and management puts me in constant touch with people. I have always thrived off social networking and enjoy meeting new contacts and learning about people and what they love to do. I also enjoy that I am always on the go and able to meet and work in different locations. I think I get “jittery” sitting for too long behind a computer and really like that every day is a different opportunity in a different place.
Through networking with other women in management, I would like to build lasting connections and friendships for support and encouragement. I think everyone needs contacts who are positive and who help motivate each other to reach their goals. Positive energy is worth sharing.
In my free time I enjoy taking walks, going out to dinner or getting together with friends, reading, taking pictures, art (I like to paint), and anything outside in the sunshine. I admit that I enjoy a glass of red wine now and then as well.
Something I want others to know about me is I am a very simple person and I feel like I am pretty introspective and artistic. I look for the small pieces of everyday life that make it enjoyable and that inspire my creative spirit...the way grass blows in the wind, the perfect color of a unique flower, the shapes of clouds, and how the sun reflects off water. These natural snapshots are what life is all about. I like to think of each day as unique and new and I think this translates into my ability to talk with many different kinds of people and work beyond challenge. Focusing on the task at hand and what can be done here and now to make a tough situation better is a great approach.
My child did the funniest thing the other day... My daughter Anika is 6 years old. She always says the most profound little statements. The other day while shopping for groceries she was chattering away. She ended her story, looked at me and said: “Isn’t that just ridiculous Mom?” She always makes me laugh. She also holds such innate wisdom. One of her latest quotes after we spent a beautiful day with friends swimming, cooking out, and attending a concert by The Hollands: “Special days should always be followed by special nights.” She always reminds me that keeping a little piece of that childlike viewpoint in our adult lives is so very important.
