May - Topic: Bringing Your Business to the Next Level
Speaker: Jayne McQuillan, CPA, MBA
In May, we welcomed Jayne McQullan, CPA, MBA, to discuss “Bringing Your Business to the Next Level.” Jayne used the book “Our Iceberg is Melting” to provide an outline for how to accept and learn from changes in the workplace.

The key steps include:
1. Set the stage
2. Decide what to do
3. Make it happen
4. Make it stick

Jayne explained how data doesn’t make change happen – there has to be an emotional tie for people to make/accept change. It may be difficult for some employees to accept change, so to help them out, find their emotional attachment and help them see/understand how this is a good thing for them!

February - Topic: Goal Setting and Attainment
Speaker: Dr. Bonnie Nussbaum
Are you already slipping on your New Year’s Resolution? Dr. Bonnie Nusbaum can help! Dr. Nussbaum took us through easy steps to set personal and professional goals and, more importantly, reach them!

According to Dr. Nussbaum, 95% of a person's actions are controlled by their subconscious, and only 5% by their conscious mind. With a little work, conscious actions can become subconscious ones. Let the power of positive thinking work for you!

Another big takeaway is that people who focus on the past are generally depressed while those who focus on the future tend to be anxious. However, those few who focus on the present and their tasks at hand are most productive. Where do you spend most of your mental time?

Dr. Nussbaum is a Wisconsin Licensed Psychologist who specializes in working with trauma survivors, maximizing human potential, and coaching others to success. Dr. Nussbaum has been in private practice for 20 years in the Green Bay area. She owns Harbor Community Psychological Associates, S.C., an outpatient mental health clinic. Dr. Nussbaum does individual psychotherapy, personal and professional coaching, and, teaches a one-day workshop entitled "Manifest Your Goals and Dreams" which is about to be released as an Internet- based workshop for purchase. She has several audio CD's, including CD's for relaxation and releasing barriers to success.
