The Wisconsin Department of Tourism’s mission is to inspire people to love the Wisconsin experience. She will explain what goes into marketing a state.

WI Dept of Tourism

Tourism became a cabinet-level department in 1996, however tourism marketing existed long before that.  Members of the department are a small, close-knit group that put their combined energies into marketing Wisconsin’s great tourism products and advancing the Wisconsin brand of fun.  In 2010, total traveler spending amounted to nearly $12.5 billion and touched virtually every business in the state.  Tourism marketing encompasses all 72 counties and an ongoing study of American travelers revealed that Wisconsin tourism comprises over 87 million overnight and day outings.  Currently one out of nine jobs depends on tourism and travel.

WIMI is a networking group for area business women who are managers, aspiring managers, business professionals, and business owners.  The group has 95 members and growing and meets on the third Wednesday of each month, from noon to 1:30 p.m.
