Green Bay Chapter Mtg - "Empowering Leaders to Become Part of the Solution for U.S. Dropout Crisis"
Every day, 7,000 students drop out of high school. Last year, 1.3 million failed to graduate. By 2020, 15 million more will join them. The dropout crisis directly affects the U.S economy. To better understand the high school dropout issue, Junior Achievement USA conducted an extensive research study in four U.S. cities. The research phase of this study was facilitated by a nonprofit strategy consulting firm, The Bridgespan Group. What were the results of the study? What is a solution to the issue? How do we implement that solution? "Junior Achievement: empowering young people to own their economic success."
Jennifer Maier, Program Mgr with Junior Achievement in Brown County, will discuss these issues and more relating to the base of our future work force pool. She'll discuss how we, as business leaders, can not only become part of the dropout solution, but how doing so can help to develop our own business and leadership skills, as well as empower us as individuals to own our OWN our economic success.
Originally from Northern MN, Jennifer graduated from UW Stout with a degree in Fashion Merchandising, with a minor in Business. After graduation, she moved with her husband Michael to Dallas, TX, where they lived for 10 yrs, before moving back to his home town of Green Bay six years ago. Before having the opportunity to stay at home with her children, she worked for Kohl's Dept Stores. In January, 2011, she re-entered the workforce as Junior Achievement Program Manager in Brown County after her youngest son, Brett, started kindergarten. She also has a daughter, Adalee, who is in 3rd grade this year.
